Google is Fast
Filed Under (Misc.) by Kirby Witmer on 16-10-2007
I used to think that Microsoft’s search engine, live.com would index my posts quicker than Google would. Now check this screenshot out.
Notice that Google says how long ago the website was updated. Sweet. Now I’m not sure which search engine is quicker. I wonder if there would be a easy way to accurately test how fast a search engine indexes a new post.
Google Apps Premier Gets 25 Gig Storage
Filed Under (Misc.) by Kirby Witmer on 12-10-2007
I just noticed this post on the Official Gmail Blog:
By the way, businesses, schools and organizations using Google Apps to get Gmail on their own custom addresses (like Google does for our @google.com accounts) will get a storage boost in the coming days, too. Standard and Education Edition storage (now at 2GB) will begin matching Gmail’s counter, and Premier Edition users get a whopping 25 GB (up from 10 GB).
So I logged into my Premier Google Apps account, and this is what I saw.
You are currently using 662 MB (2%) of your 25600 MB.
WOW!!Â

Google Spreadsheets try my patience
Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Kirby Witmer on 26-07-2007
I’ve been trying to store my docs and spreadsheets online using Google Docs and Spreadsheets. However, I’m about ready to give it up, and use Excel again. Its annoyingly slow by times, and I get frequent errors, and now I can’t even open my one document up.
grrrr…
Google Acquires Feedburner
Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Kirby Witmer on 01-06-2007
The official Google Blog is stating that they have just acquired Feedburner. I have found that Feedburner does an excellent job at managing my feeds. I guess we will see what all Google will do with the service. Perhaps AdSense in RSS feeds?
Adsense Check
Filed Under (Misc.) by Kirby Witmer on 25-05-2007
Speaking of bonuses… I got my first adsense check here the other week. This is the first adsense check for me, however some of my other affliate programs have sent me checks before. I personally dislike seeing ads all over a website. However, running ads on a website can bring in enough revenue to pay the hosting bill, so that’s why you see a few ads here and there on this website. Anyway, I’ve got a question for you. Do ads on a website affect whether you will visit that site again in the future? or not?
Gmail increases maximum attachment size
Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Kirby Witmer on 25-05-2007
According to Gmail’s help you can now send and receive messages up to 20 MB. That’s double the original size of 10 MB.
With Gmail, you can send and receive messages up to 20 megabytes (MB) in size. However, the precise amount allowable will depend on the attachment.
That’s just awesome, because my files were getting to big. ![]()
Can’t Print G-mail Message Draft
Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Kirby Witmer on 12-05-2007
Maybe I’m blind, but if you compose a new message in G-mail, I can’t find a print button anywhere to print it. Its annoying. Only after saving the draft, clicking on your inbox, then reopening the saved draft, will you have an option to print it. W.e.i.r.d.
Get Rich Quick (maybe)
Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Kirby Witmer on 17-04-2007
Update: Google responded to me via email and warns that if you attempt this they may shut down your account. Consider yourself warned.
I’ve thought of the perfect Get Rich Quick recipe.
Ingredients:
1 Google Checkout Account
1 Google Checkout Merchant Account*
1 Credit Card with 0% Interest on Purchases with a CashBack Bonus.
2 E-mail Addresses
A couple minutes
Instructions:
Setup a Google Merchant Checkout Account with one of your email addresses. Once the Merchant account is all set up, log into Google Checkout and select the Settings tab, then click on the Send an Invoice link on the left side. In the To: field enter the email address of your second email account, put in a brief message and enter a dollar amount**. Click the Send Invoice Email button. Now check the email of your second email account, and you should see an invoice from Google Checkout. Click on the link to pay the invoice, log in using a Google Checkout Account name and password (make sure its a different Google Account then the one you used to send the invoice) and pay the invoice using your 0% with CashBack Bonus Credit Card. Wait several days until the money hits your bank account, pay off the credit card, and spend the CashBack Bonus. Repeat.
*Currently Google Checkout Merchant Accounts can process transactions for free until January 1, 2008. So hurry up.
**Amount must be $10,000.00 or less.
** Technically this should work, however results may vary by individual. Kirby Witmer is not responsible for any consequences which may arise, directly or indirectly, from using this recipe.
