Some Site Stats

I realize this is a very small blog, but I thought it would be interesting to post some statistics of this blog.

January 2007 saw 16,623 unique vistors, 23,677 visits, 69,285 pages, 355,241 hits, and 40.97 GB of bandwidth.
February 2007* saw 15,948 unique vistors, 23,054 visits, 66,428 pages, 324,361 hits and 40.54 GB of bandwidth.

For the year so far Microsoft Internet Explorer tops the browser list at 437,202 hits (64.3%), Firefox comes in at a distant second with 185,116 hits (27.2%) , Safari places third with 20,615 hits (3%), and Opera comes in fourth with 14,854 hits (2.1%).

As far as the battle of the Operating Systems, Apple Macs didn’t quite make it to the top spot, however they did come in second. Macintosh brought 30,873 hits or 4.5% and Microsoft Windows managed to place first with 624,440 hits or 91.8%. <gasp> And who said, Microsoft’s share was slipping?

* February isn’t over yet.
** This also includes traffic from kirb.com and the Windows XP boot screen, however they don’t account for much.
*** Yes, mac fans, this is a Pro Microsoft Blog, but awstats made these stats, I didn’t.

Western Digital Hard Drives Score Big

Filed Under (Misc.) by Kirby Witmer on 02-26-2007

I’ve always been partial to Western Digital hard drives, and this article from Boot Daily I just found seems to agree.

High-performance hard drives from Western Digital Corp. earned the highest score possible when tested with the Windows Experience Index utility, a new feature in Windows Vista, WD announced today.  The results indicate that the new Windows Vista operating system will run optimally when installed on WD Caviar SE16 500 GB and WD Raptor 150 GB SATA hard drives.  The Windows Experience Index measures performance capabilities of PCs and their components and calculates a score telling users how well the operating system will run using those components.  WD also announced that all of WD’s latest-generation hard drives now are certified to run Windows Vista.
The WD Raptor 150 GB hard drive, the world’s only 10,000 RPM SATA drive, and the newest-generation WD Caviar SE16 500 GB SATA hard drive each received a perfect score — a 5.9 — on a scale of between 1 and 5.9.  Other WD Caviar drives also scored in the highest performance level.  Computer systems receiving a 5.0 score or higher are defined by Microsoft as the highest performers and supporting high-end, graphics-intensive experiences such as multiplayer and 3D gaming and recording and playback of HDTV content.  WD tested the drives in its performance lab in Lake Forest, Calif.

I keep “drooling” over WD’s 10,000 RPM drives, but I guess I’ll have to wait to see how much my tax refund check is.

Hello Beloved

My name is Mrs.Iris Wells I am a dying woman who has decided to donate what I have to charity through you.

You may be wondering why I chose you. But someone has to be chosen.

I am 59 years old and was diagnosed for cancer about 2years ago, immediately after the death of my husband who had left me everything he worked for.I have been touched by the lord to donatefrom what I have inherited from my late husband tocharity through you for the good work of humanity, rather than allow my relatives to use my
husband’s hard earned funds inappropriately.

I have asked the lord to forgive me all my sins and I believe he has, because He is merciful. I will be going in for an operation, and I pray that I survive the operation.

I have decided to Willing/Donate the sum of (TEN Million THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS)to charity through you for the good work of the lord, and to help the motherless, less privileged and also for the assistance of the widows. At the moment I
cannot take any telephone calls, due to the fact that my relatives are around me and I have been restricted by my doctor from taking telephone calls because I
deserve all the rest I can get.

Presently,I have informed my lawyer about my decision in WILLING this fund to charity through you. I wish you all the best and may the good Lord bless you
abundantly, and please use the funds well and always
extend the good work to others.

If you are interested to be bless, also willing to bless other’s too,I will inform my Family Lawyer so that he can arrange the release of the funds to you. I know i have never met you but my mind tells me to do this and I hope you are sincerely.I will pay you 30%
of this money if you will assist me because I am now too weak and frigile to do things myself because of my cancer.

NB: I will appreciate your utmost confidentiality in
this matter until the task is accomplished,as I don’t
want anything that will Jeopardize my last wish, due
to the fact that I do not want relatives or family
members standing in the way of my last wish.

Windows Vista Speech Recognition (not)

You would think after one live demonstration went awry, Microsoft would be especially cautious about demoing Windows Vista Speech Recognition capabilities in front of a crowd. Not so. On January 30th, I attended a Microsoft Launch Day event in Philadelphia, PA where Technet presenter, Bryan Von Axelson, attempted to demo Vista’s Speech Recognition again! I wish soo bad I would’ve had a video camera along, it was soo funny. He couldn’t get it to do much more than open the start menu, and sometimes that wouldn’t even work. But the loudest applause came, when after Bryan spoke “Minesweeper” several times into the microphone, Mahjong Titans opened.

zPhone

First the iPhone and now the zPhone. CrunchGear has a very interesting article about Microsoft’s rumored Zune Phone. Rumor has it that the zPhone could sport download speeds of up to 2Mbps! This would also allow you to share your songs with anyone else that has the zPhone. Wow! Another round of Microsoft versus Apple. This could get interesting. Ohh.. by the way, CrunchGear also got ahold of some “leaked” photos. :)
